Projects Old and New

I am still putting the finishing touches on the dresser....it took some time to find the drawer pulls that I really liked.  Unfortunately, the new ones are about 1/2" shorter than the old.  This is a tricky problem to get the holes filled and stained to match the drawer front.
A bit of staining, more sanding, trial and error....
By George I think this is pretty close!
Now to get the others finished.....and then we still have the mirrors to hang.  Can you tell we get distracted from projects CONSTANTLY?!?!

Distractions such as Darren trying his first taste of Nana's home grown eggs....
Or Rylan playing with the new Great Pyrenese puppy....
A couple of big ongoing projects are the doe barn....
This weekend we picked out the gates for the front and back, plus got the lumber....
And we decided against putting an office in the barn.  It was going to significantly add to the cost....plus we decided to build it when we build a new milkroom.  It's not really a priority yet...but having the doe barn done by Thanksgiving is a HUGE priority.
The other big projects is continuing the chixperiment.
We are down to 2 adult hens that are decendents of the original cross, so we decided to order some fresh blood.  40 new first-generation Cornish Cross will put a big of meat in the freezer, stock in the pantry, and hopefully give us 4 hens to retain for breeding for another generation of our own meat birds.
We have lost 3 of the chicks so far, but one was during a power outtage we had yesterday.  I brought the chicks in the house and put them in a plastic tub with a hot water bottle, covered it with a heavy blanket and a warm cat.
We'll see how the other 37 grow....
