Doe Barn Progress...

We began working on our new doe barn in October.  If you would like to read the post and see where we began you can read it here.

Because we made the decision to build it without going into debt, it's a work in progress.

But the pressure is on.  The does are bred and will be starting to kid on or around Jan 16.  We have a trailer full of winter hay that needs to go into that barn, and the holidays are upon us with all of the excitement that brings with family and friends coming in and activities planned.  At least the does are dried off now.  It's been 2 years since I've had a break from milking, and I'm enjoying this time of rest.

So the barn began like this.....

And it's coming together nicely. The front fence is done and the gate is up....

The dogs are demonstrating the alley way through the center of the barn, and that green gate on the left will be the entry to the hay storage area.

This next picture is looking from the inside of the barn towards the front.

And this is from the outside looking in from the front.

This is the back side of the barn.  

Obviously we still have a lot to do, but it's getting close!  Our investment so far is just under $2,000.  By the time we've finished we anticipate total costs to be about $2500. Not bad for:

18' X 21' barn

8' X 10' hay storage/tack room

6 stalls

complete with rainwater collection system

Hoping to have it all completed by Jan 1.   I'll keep you all posted!
