It's that time of year again. One month from today our first doe is due for the 2012 kidding schedule. Of course the first doe due is Faith, my favorite...
Don't let this horrible picture fool you. She is a milking machine, she carries a pack, and she makes fine milking daughters that tend to be rather indestructable. Never a sick day in her life, will work for cookies, and is a sweetheart. What else could you want in a doe?
Next to Faith is Lace. Lace is due the day after Faith is and it will be interesting to see if they keep the milkstring in order. Lace and Faith are about equal in my favoriteness...but Lace's quality as a Nubian far exceeds Faith's. Not a great picture of her either.....
Anyway, being a month away from their due dates, today I started mixing raspberry leaf into their food. Also each day they get a fruit flavored antacid (calcium tablet). Also on the menu for this month will be plenty of kelp and pumpkin seeds. It will still be a couple of weeks before they check into the day spa...but kidding season is just around the corner!

Am constructing a goatssiere for dear Faith this year, so she doesn't step on one of her teats and accuse the other goaties of pinching her!!
This will be her 8th kidding with a total of 15 kids on the ground to date; 9 of which were does.
Since we repeated the breeding to Ditto this year I can't wait to see what she has!
