Quail

Well at least ONE of our quail has begun to pay for itself!  We've gotten 2 eggs over the last 2 days and are praying for more soon!  We figured the cost of the first egg was about $95.  That's an expensive snack.

We had bought quail for the purpose of pickling eggs, but over the last few months they have never laid an egg.  I am assuming it is due to the shorter days of winter.  Now that they've started laying, we plan to incubate enough of the eggs to have replacement layers, and have a few eggs to pickle as well.

With the quail, chickens, turkeys, and ducks....we should be able to eliminate any store bought poultry and poultry products from our diet again soon.
