Everyone Works on a Homestead

Homesteads are all about work.  Around here everyone has to pull their weight, every critter has a job to do.  Cap'n Jack was busy about his work early....and I happened to catch him on the job....

It's a young rat, and apparently he caught it in the kid barn.  Of course catching the rat brought out the curiosity seekers....our chickens are well known for killing rats and will do their best to steal his quarry...

They hover like buzzards waiting for him to walk away.....and one even moved in a bit close...

But when the rooster got involved...

He took his breakfast and got out of there...
