Favorites

There's no doubt that Faith is my favorite goat.  She's strong, healthy, an easy kidder, gives tons of buttery milk, is pack trained....and is just wonderful.  She is the ideal homestead goat.

Out of all the kids born here this year....these 2 are my favorites.  Lexi's spots are beautiful, like she's covered with little hearts....and Joy was my beautiful suprise kid that lives up to her name...

And I've broken one of the basic rules of homesteading...I have favorites in the meat bird pen.  The fall chick hatch suprised us with 2 blue chicks!  We've been hatching and raising these birds for over a year, these are the first ever blue birds!  I think I'll keep these 2 for breeding....

The meat chicks graduated to the small herb garden today.  They are growing fast and doing great...

And just in time, too!  Our second batch of chicks for this fall began hatching this morning.
