Basic Training

Now that Apache has moved off with the world's most amazing baby and his parents....
We have begun basic training with our newest recruit, Reserve.  Raising the 2 puppies together for a few weeks was challenging due to the fact that Apache was being raised as a family pet/protector, and Reserve is being raised as a Livestock Guardian.  Since one of my passions is dog training, it's been an interesting challenge...and so far it's been successful.
But this week we have really begun our work with reserve.
Aegis starts teaching the new recruit the ropes, walking her around the property and introducing her to her duties and charges.

Then he teaches her the boundaries (not that he abides by this rule...his boundaries are way beyond the scope of our property)
Next thing to do is to stop, sniff, and woof....
Aegis is ready for his nap so sends Reserve to go wake up Epoch...
Even though they stop for a bit of munchey face play time......
They are all on the job for sure.
Yep, Reserve is coming along nicely.

There is still a lot of work to do; it will take a full 3 years before she's trustworthy.  But she certainly shows the potential to be another amazing Anatolian.
