In the Home Stretch....and Random Things

We are in the home stretch for incubator hatchings until after the summer is over.  Only about a dozen or so ducks and about that many quail eggs in the 'bator.  Of course, that's not counting what the moms do.  Our mama duck (who is supposed to be a non-setting breed), has decided to fill a nest and go all broody.  Right in the middle of our burn pile.

Well this is as close as I'm getting.  She's all sorts of protective...

Even the drake won't get too close to her! 

Speaking of ducks, we put 4 ducks and a ham into the smoker over the weekend...

They were hot smoked for a few hours.....the ham took nearly the whole day...

Walking around the yard I took some random pics of the goats.  This is Nommy.  She's almost as quirky as her mother (Happy) was.  She will stand for hours and rub her tummy on this log...

Angel is doing very well being a mom to Mikey...but she is losing a bit of weight trying to keep up with his milk needs.

Someone who is certainly not lacking in the weight department is Joy.  She looks so good, and she knows it too!

Next on the list to freshen is Moon Pie.  She is miserable, and I don't think the heat we've been having is making her feel any better.  She's due mid-May to early June.

The last due to kid for the year is Filly.

Meanwhile Nommy keeps rubbing....

Now that we've pulled the beets from the garden, we've got the summer garden planted.  The peppers, corn, and cucumbers are finally taking off..

Summer is quickly approaching, we're already seeing temps in the 90's.
